Eight Types of Grief
Today we are talking about eight different types of grief (yes, there’s more than one).
This is not an exhaustive list, but let’s discuss these eight types.
Anticipatory grief - grief that is present in the anticipation of someone’s passing/something coming to an end.
Disenfranchised grief - grief that goes unrecognized by society.
Traumatic grief - grief that involves traumatic distress following a loss/death.
Cumulative grief - experience of a new loss while already grieving a previous loss.
Complicated grief - experiences in grief that are debilitating.
Delayed grief - grief that is experienced in a delayed manner following a loss.
Distorted grief - anger, self destructive actions and behaviour that occurs following a loss/death.
We experience grief in many forms. It’s time these conversations are had and awareness is spread.
How will you keep the conversation going?
