Affirmations in Grief

Grief affirmations, statements said in the present tense often following “I am” that affirm what you want for yourself:

I feel love, I release grief

I am healing

I am not alone in my grief

I allow myself to feel fully

I have a purpose

My experience matters

I am grieving in the right way for me

I choose love, I let go of pain

I am releasing resistance

I treat myself with compassion

These are examples of affirmations you can use along your grief journey.

When using affirmations you can be as specific to your situation as you like. The words we think and say have a big impact on our wellbeing and the way we show up in the world.

Sometimes when we begin using affirmations it can seem like we are lying to ourselves or we don’t believe the words we are saying. Be gentle. Repeat in your mind or say out loud what feels the best to you. Hold yourself in your experience with patience.
